In the last 24 hours, four students have died, including those who committed suicide by hanging. One of them died after two months of treatment.
The death of these four students took place from Saturday (March 30) afternoon to Sunday (March 31) morning. Three of the students committed suicide by hanging themselves.
The three students who committed suicide are Adrita Binte Mosharraf (21), a first-year student of the Marketing Department of Dhaka University (DU), Nusrat Jahan Maria Baisakhi (18), a class 11 student of Natore NS Government College, Sabiha (19), a class 12 student of Manirampur, Jessore.
Sanjida Arni (22), a student of philosophy department (2019-20) of Eden Women’s College of the capital, died after undergoing treatment for more than two months.
The hanging body of Adrita bint Musharraf was recovered from the residential quarters of Dhaka University (DU) Fuller Road area. It is initially known that he committed suicide by hanging himself. The student is a first year student of the marketing department of the university and the chairman of the management department is Professor Dr. Md. Daughter of Mosharraf Hossain.
Regarding the incident, Dhaka University Proctor Professor Dr. Md. Maksudur Rahman said, Adrita Mosharraf, daughter of professor Mosharraf Hossain and chairman of management department of our university, committed suicide at her home. I came to know that this incident happened around 3:30 or 4:00. Later during the prayer, one of our assistant proctor professor Dr. Md. Abdul Muhit was going out to pray, when he heard the sound of crying, he ran there and saw the incident. Then we came to know that the body was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for post-mortem with the help of police. Still there for now.
