If the government’s complaint is not taken into consideration, the decision to stop Facebook-YouTube in the country

The cabinet committee on law and order has decided to shut down social media including Facebook, YouTube if the government’s complaints are not taken into consideration.

This decision was taken at the meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Law and Order at the Secretariat on Sunday (March 31). At the end of the meeting, Committee President and Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque said this to the journalists.

AKM Mozammel Haque said that they (Facebook, YouTube, Google) do not listen to our recommendations on various issues due to the fact that their (Facebook, YouTube, Google) head office is not located here in order to prevent rumors and control cybercrime. We will say that they are not listening to us.

Stating that these services will be closed for some time if necessary, he said, “We will first properly inform the international organizations that they (social media) are allowing these crimes and rumors to spread without taking our complaints into account and no initiative is being taken by them to prevent them.”
